The beach at Petit Bacaye is totally safe for swimming, the water warm and
snorkelling off the reef is fun. Almond and palm trees provide plenty of shade
and the trade winds keep you cool. Each beach house has sun-beds. At the far
end of the beach the fishermen bring in their daily catch for sale to the hotel
and local people. Most guests find it fascinating to go and see all the
different types of fish that make up the catch. They are weighed and sold on
the beach. All beaches in Grenada are public and we share our beach with the
fishermen and a few local children. You can walk around the rocks to the island
- now a designated bird sanctuary. Off the jetty is a crystal clear pool –
lovely for swimming. Rum punch is served at the water’s edge as the sun goes
down and the egrets go home to roost.
